SK Arts proudly presents 2025 Arts of Celebration – CREATION, an exciting new event dedicated to acknowledging the vibrancy and richness of our arts community and its contributions improving our quality of life in Saskatchewan.

We are actively collecting recommendations for artists, arts leaders and organizations across the province who have made significant artistic achievements or contributions in theatre and music disciplines within the last 18 months.

Recognized artists will be featured on social media, where voting will determine an award recipient for their respective disciplines. Recipients will be announced at the event in May.

SK Arts proudly presents Arts of Celebration – EXPERIENCES, an exciting new event dedicated to acknowledging the vibrancy and richness of our arts community and its recent contributions improving our quality of life in Saskatchewan.

We are actively collecting recommendations for artists, arts leaders and organizations across the province who have made a significant artistic achievement or contribution within the last 18 months in all arts disciplines. Everyone will have the opportunity to come together to celebrate the enormous contributions made to enhance our quality of life through the arts.

Throughout the year, those being recognized will be promoted on SK Arts' social media platforms and through media interviews, and a video montage featuring those honoured will play during the event. Live performances featuring Saskatchewan artists will round out the celebration.

Categories

Emerging Professional Artists

Recognizes and celebrates any emerging professional Saskatchewan artist, working in any art form, who demonstrates exceptional promise through notable accomplishments in the last 18 months and who:

  • is in the early stage of their career;
  • has created an independent body of work and is making a continuing and progressive contribution to the art form; and
  • has received regional and perhaps national recognition and has had an impact on the arts in Saskatchewan through publication and/or public presentation of their work.

Established Artists and Artistic Leaders

Established Artist

Recognizes and celebrates recent work by any established professional Saskatchewan artist, working in any art form, who:

  • is at an advanced stage in their career;
  • has created an extensive, independent body of work and is making a sustained and progressive contribution to the art form; and
  • has attained recognition nationally and perhaps internationally and has had an important impact on the arts in Saskatchewan.
Artistic Leader

Recognizes and celebrates any Saskatchewan professional arts leader, mentor or educator who has demonstrated, within the last 18 months, outstanding commitment to the arts and learning by means of:

  • advancement of the arts and artists in the province through exemplary management, presentation, production, distribution, marketing, research, collection or curatorial practice;
  • engagement of learners in the exploration of contemporary artistic ideas or creative experiences that stimulate their understanding of the arts; and/or
  • innovative approaches to education in the arts through exemplary programs, instruction, an art practice, or partnerships with artists or arts organizations that foster the creative and intellectual development through education and experiences in the arts.

Youth Artists

Recognizes and celebrates any young person between the age of 14 and 22 in Saskatchewan, working in any art form to develop their creativity, whose potential has been recognized by a professional artist (leader, mentor, educator).

Organization, Festivals and Collectives

Recognizes and celebrates any organization, festival, or collective engaged in the arts in Saskatchewan that currently (or within the last 18 months) demonstrates outstanding leadership and commitment to the advancement, presentation and promotion of the arts and artists through exemplary programming, governance, operations, administration, innovation and/or community engagement.


Eligibility

Individuals eligible to be recognized must be:

  • Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada
  • Live and maintain a permanent physical address in the province and have lived in Saskatchewan for a minimum of one year before the date of recommendation and live in the province for at least six months a year. (Proof of residence may be requested)
  • Must meet SK Arts' definition of professional artists (except for the aspiring professional artists category) as stated below:
    • Emerging Theater and Music Artists

Artists are considered emerging if they've moved beyond training into professional practice and have begun to produce a body of independent work that has been recognized locally or provincially.

    • Established Theatre and Music Artists

Established artists have been practicing art professionally for some time and have produced a significant body of work that has been recognized provincially, nationally or internationally.

    • Music and Theatre Groups and Collectives

At least 50% of the collaborators must meet the criteria for Saskatchewan residency described above under "Individuals." (Proof of residence may be requested.)

    • Theatre and Music Organizations

Organizations that have permanent headquarters in Saskatchewan are engaged in providing programs and/or services in the arts in the province.

Theatre and Music Festivals

Festivals are defined by SK Arts as those meeting the following requirements:

  • have work and a mandate that align with SaskFestivals program purpose
  • have a core mandate to present an arts festival or series
  • have a minimum of three years of operation (with appropriate history of public presentation)
  • engage the advice and expertise of professionals in their programming and administration
  • have financial and decision-making processes controlled by Saskatchewan residents
  • have operations and primary programming centered in Saskatchewan
  • have a clearly articulated management structure and

Ineligible Recommendations

  • Posthumous recommendations
  • Self-recommendations
  • Recommendations by SK Arts board and staff
  • Individuals, collectives and organizations recognized in Arts of Celebration 2024
  • Multidisciplinary artists, for disciplines other than theatre or music
  • Recommendations received not in the prescribed format
  • Recommendations received after the deadline.
  • Recommendations received without details of the person making the recommendation.

*Multiple recommendations for an artist, collective or entity are not necessary. Once a recommendation is eligible, the artist, organization or collective will be recognized. If you have recommended an artist or entity that was recommended by someone else, we will let you know.
