Donation submissions are accepted at any time and are assessed three times each year. The next scheduled donation assessment dates are:

CCPERB Donations
SK Arts is not currently accepting any submissions that require a Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board (CCPERB) application.
Donations of Out-of-Province Artwork (Effective April 1, 2026)
If donated artwork physically resides outside of the province, any transportation costs will be the donor's responsibility. SK Arts can provide general guidance on shipping considerations and assist donors in coordinating transportation. Tax receipts issued will not include any transportation fees incurred.

FAQs
What are the criteria for donation?
Artwork must be created by a Saskatchewan artist or by an artist connected in some way to Saskatchewan. Preference is given to contemporary work by living artists. Criteria include relevance and public access.
Are all artworks donated or bequeathed accepted into the Permanent Collection?
Not all works offered as gifts are accepted. They are reviewed by the Curatorial Working Group, which considers the same criteria as for purchase relevance and public access.
Who makes the decision to accept a donation?
Donation submissions are assessed by the Curatorial Working Group which is made up of SK Arts staff and members of the Board of Directors.
Are there any tax benefits for donating work to the Permanent Collection?
A tax-receipt is issued for the appraised fair market value of all artworks donated.
Can an artist donate their own work?
Yes.
Can a student submit their work for donation?
For undergraduate students, one year must pass between their last semester of study and submission to the collection. Graduate students are eligible to submit at any time.
Is there a limit on how many artworks can I submit for donation?
There is no submission limit for donations.

Do I need to have my artwork appraised prior to donation?
No. If your donation is accepted, SK Arts will cover the cost of the appraisal.
