Stephan G Stephansson Artist Residency Award Information and Criteria

The Stephan G. Stephansson Artist Residency Award was established in 2024 through an agreement between the Stephan G. Stephansson Icelandic Society (SGSIS) and the Icelandic National League of North America (INLNA). The Award is funded by the INLNA and administered by The Buttermaker House Management Committee. 

Purpose
The award recognizes the literary importance of Icelandic poet Stephan G. Stephansson and his role in furthering the arts in both Iceland and Canada. It is in keeping with the missions of both organizations: (1) SGSIS’s mission to build a vibrant rural community and enrich the cultural tapestry of Alberta and Canada. (2) The INLNA’s mission to sustain the kinship between its Canadian, American, and Icelandic members as well as North Americans interested in Iceland.
