Sâkêwêwak Artists’ Collective (SAC) invites applications for the open Artistic Director position. This position presents an exciting opportunity to help lead an organization dedicated to supporting Indigenous artists in Saskatchewan.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to and in conjunction with the Executive Director (ED), the Artistic Director (AD) will:
- Manage, plan and implement evaluations for SAC’s annual programming—specifically Opulence and Next Wave, and with particular emphasis on the Storytellers Festival.
- Develop plans and budgets for approval by the ED for annual programming; manage and collect data for project evaluation and reporting, whether internal (to the ED) or external (to shareholders or funders).
- Develop promotional strategies for the organization that align with and respect SAC’s organizational mandate; strategize program promotion to reflect existing relationships with affiliate communities, and to engage potential partners.
- Manage external communications related to SAC’s arts programming; advertise upcoming programs, and recruit artists.
- Draft and oversee artist agreements related to programming, production and technical services; meet agreement stipulations such as travel arrangements, artist accommodations, and program coordination; support and work directly with artists to deliver and/or assist in program development and delivery.
- Provide artistic vision and expertise to the ED for the purposes of funding applications, program budgets and core budget planning; provide monthly reports to the ED including all supporting documentation for programs, such as receipts, evaluations, statistical data, etc.
- Promote programs and recruit participants through Sâkêwêwak’s social media; maintain and manage accounts to facilitate communication and respond to community inquiries; update social media regularly to inform members of daily and monthly activities regarding current and upcoming arts programs.
- Oversee regular newsletters and other electronic communications to engage membership, the board and the surrounding arts community regarding SAC’s work, programming and developments.
- Consider new creative initiatives by collaborating and communicating with Indigenous artists and communities; create and foster ongoing connections by developing additional events and new programming to engage with SAC membership and local communities; work with ED to execute and fund programming through arts grants.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate for this position will have:
- Education: Relevant Bachelor’s or graduate degree (business administration, fine arts, etc.), or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience working in the arts or arts administration.
TERM
One-year, part-time (28 hours per week).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$45,000 annually, plus health benefits. Compensation will be based on a scale determined with the Board of Directors and commensurate with experience.
LOCATION & WORKING CONDITIONS
On-site (201 – 1855 Scarth St, Regina) to support the organization’s presence in the community. Sâkêwêwak’s office space is only accessible via stairs; we will work together to discuss adaptation as required.
