Short videos documenting some of the excellent Artists in Schools collaborations among artists, students and teachers in Saskatchewan.

2019: Taking a Chancz with Arts in Early Learning at St. Kateri

Interdisciplinary artist Chancz Perry and the Regina Catholic School Division partnered to bring artists into the classroom, using visual art, percussion and dance to support the storytelling practises of movement and theatre. Guest artists included violinist Katie Gagnon, First Nations dancer and educator Terrance Littletent and percussionist Godknows Kummasah. They all worked together to provide a diverse music and dance program for Kindergarten Students at St. Kateri Tekakwitha School in Regina.

 

2015: The Kiwek Project

St. Francis School in Saskatoon partners with artists from the Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre to create a Cree language play interpreted from the Hollywood movie Jumanji.


2014: Urban Culture United

St. Anne's School in Saskatoon works with artists in dance, spoken word and graffiti to spread a message of inclusion.


2013: Sweat

Songwriters' Education and Training: students at three Saskatoon high schools work with a professional musician to write and record their own songs.


2012: Mosaics

Warman high school students and teachers collaborate with ceramic artist Clint Neufeld to explore their cultural identities.


2011: The Giving Tree - A Retelling of a Traditional Métis Story

With help from students and staff at Hugh Cairns Victoria Cross School, author and artist Leah Dorian brings her book, The Giving Tree, to life in a busy library.


2010: Creating in the Qu'Appelle

Authors and aspiring writers from Saskatchewan high schools gather in the beautiful Qu'Appelle Valley to focus on their craft.
